Hello, my name is Dylan. Welcome to my website!

This is a space for me to share my thoughts, interests, and projects with the world (or more like, 10 people). I have not really accomplished anything note worthy, but you might still find something interesting on here.

I was born and raised in the much too rainy West of Ireland.

I've been living in sunny Sydney, Australia since 2019.

I'm currently working as a Software Engineer at Canva. In the past, I've worked across Backend, Platform and Data Engineering roles, in companies of all sizes.

I'm not shy, but I definitely tend toward introversion. I prefer big talk to small talk.

I love to read, and actively maintain a reading log of the books that I've read. My favorite genre is history, but I'm open to anything that comes well recommended.

I lean heavily on writing as a tool to improve my thinking process, especially in my day job. I do want to get better at writing more interesting and engaging essays, and my writing page is the place where I will post them.

You can usually find me listening to something, and I especially enjoy live gigs. I've been collecting vinyl records for a while now, and my record collection is visible on my records page. I have a few failed attempts at DJing and learning the guitar in my past.

I keep lists of my favorite books, movies, podcasts, etc. on my favorites page.

I'm quite competitive and enjoy most sports. I play football (soccer) regularly, and racket sports whenever I can get a game in. I also trained BJJ for a few years, but have had to stop due to chronic injuries.

I generally get to travel overseas once or twice a year and have made it to over 30 countries so far. In particular, I love visiting museums and historical sites.

I've recently got into Photography, and although I'm not very good at it, I'm enjoying the process of learning and improving. My camera of choice is the Ricoh GR III, which is supremely compact and pocketable!

I have a strong interest in philosophy, economics, history, geopolitics and science. In other words, how the world works. Reading history has left me with a deep appreciation for human civilization, as well as a healthy dose of cynicism about the future. I'm particularly worried about our growing wealth inequality, demographic decline and the potential economicimpacts of AGI.

Please feel free to reach out for any reason! The world is a very big place and I'm always looking to meet new people. You can contact me via:
